Conventions Of Film Opening Sequences

After looking into the opening sequences of twelve films of a variety of genres and six thriller films opening sequences I wanted to look in detail at what key conventions are included in opening sequences. I have looked at what typical conventions are used and then found key examples of them that are used in the eighteen films that I analysed.

What else have a learnt from my research into opening sequences?
Another key thing that I have found when looking at opening sequences is that the whole purpose of an opening sequence is to help to hook a viewer into watching the rest of the film. So it is very important to make sure that an opening sequence gives a viewer enough teasers into what might happen in the film but not give away to many major part of the plot line two them.
