Thriller and Femme Fatal Ideas

We decided to create a thriller because of some of it interesting conventions Thrillers are characterized depending on the thriller it can be a fast pacing, frequent action, or that of a resourceful heroes who must thwart the plans of more powerful and better equipped villains. You can then get the psychotically thriller which is a bit strange and the audience doesn't work it all out to the end. The villain is generally punished, and the strong silent man generally wins the weak woman. Literary devices such as suspense, red herrings and cliff-hangers are used extensively. A thriller is villain driven plot, whereby he presents obstacles the hero must overcome. The genre is a fascinatingly flexible you can see from looking at its subgenres

All though we liked several of the themes, our main ideas come from the theme of a physiological thriller with the main character is infatuated with a man she hardly knows. That’s where the idea comes from for the femme fatal character. The femme fatal character mainly appears in thriller movies rather than anything else. This is because this is a great fear for many men being either an object of pure obsession and controlled or in danger from a woman scorned. This make films like these perfect for a male and female audience, men will be interested to see what can happen and a woman would secretly enjoy watching a woman being in control and dangerous due to what a man has done to her, or who she feels about that man and the consequence to the action she makes. Also if it’s more physiological, this will keep a woman interested other then a gory action thriller with over the top violence.

So overall this research has helped to define our ideas for our movie opening sequence. It has given us a change to look at ideas from other films. A get a better look at the themes we are going to create and use for our opening sequences. This research has given me lots of ideas for our movie such as plot ideas and a script for just the opening sequence, making it short and simple. This will create an eerie effect and create tension which is one of the key elements for a thriller such as ours, we decided on a thriller because it gives use so much option and is such a vast genre we can do almost anything. But by narrowing it down by adding a femme fatal character we may have got less choice but it still gives use plenty of options. I love the idea of using a femme fatal character because it challenges the convention of a thriller/ stalker film making the stalker like character a woman, who is often portrayed to be weak
